With the wild (and justified) popularity of Christian rapper Lacrae, it’s not surprising that many Christian rappers are making a name for themselves. An onslaught of rappers who previously never thought they had a lane, suddenly found themselves exactly where they belonged. Hence Wande. “EXIT” is the perfect example of skill and contemporary musical tropes finding its place in a currently very restricted space. Wande is a good rapper with great lyricism that works to explore issues of self-worth, spiritual doubt, love, wonder, and finding the light in oppressive darkness. Topics that aren’t always openly explored in religious subgenres. It’s a well-made album that, like her contemporary Lacrae, is more about opening up the soul to the possibility of more and spreading positivity.
