Damn this is a beautiful album. “Chilombo” opens on something so brilliantly lovely it reminds you why Jhene Aiko is heralded in this generation of soft-toned singers. There is true artistic merit behind the deceptive softness. Aiko is fearless in her desires, frailties, strengths and weaknesses. Open and unafraid to demand liberation sexually and emotionally. While both emotionally and sexually explicit, more than anything else this seems to be a spiritual journey for the singer. Connections to the earth and the goddesses guide her to create some of her most evocative music to date. Just wow!
